No offense, but I've never understood why people buy heavily worn coins, regardless of how rare they might be.

That penny is easily worth 700 to 800 FRNs... many people pay it.

Guys instantly made 600 bucks easy.... That is a steal.

When those people are starving, that penny won't buy it's weight in rice.

Maybe, but if I offered to sell you a 1916-D Mercury Dime today for $100 would you jump on it?

Being offered "Paypal only" probably hurt it, plus the description was haywire. The sheeple are very easily spooked.

Anything seriously under spot is rather unusual on fleaBay, imho.
Maybe I'm wrong. If I am I want to bid on it! :signs1:

Common man, this is the NUMISMATICS forum for crying out loud... all of it is overpriced in terms of "starving people".

Give the guy (and the rest of the posters in this forum) a friggin break :bear_rolleyes:

Sure, depending on what condition they're in and how badly a collector interested in filling those holes in his collection likes them. Any amount a coin sells for above its spot metal price must be attributed to some form of numismatic value. Granted, those particular coins in that auction sold for less than spot but I'm sure similar coins sell for a premium over spot in other auctions often.
